Michael Dean is a Competition and Trade Partner with over 35 years’ experience advising UK and international clients. Dual qualified in English and Scots law and also admitted as a solicitor in Ireland, Michael has acted as a trusted commercial adviser to major corporates across the UK and internationally, most recently within a global law firm. Michael’s extensive advisory and compliance experience is underpinned by his work on complex competition investigations, including cartel investigations by the European Commission across various European jurisdictions and the UK competition authorities, together with significant experience of dawn raids. Michael has also been involved in one of the first collective actions before the Competition Appeal Tribunal, and successfully challenged a Phase 2 merger decision by the UK Competition Authority.
Alongside his advisory practice, Michael provides practical training to client teams on competition compliance and dawn raid preparedness.
For more than 20 years, Michael was ranked Band 1 by the leading UK legal directories; he is Honorary Consul for Germany in Glasgow and a member of the advisory board of Inclusion Junction.
