Bexley Beaumont Grows London IP Team as Commercial Caseload Increases

Paolo Andreottola has become the fifth IP Partner at Bexley Beaumont in its London office.

His arrival comes with the firm handling more IP work among an increasing commercial caseload.

Data published earlier this year by the Ministry of Justice revealed that Bexley Beaumont's experience has been mirrored elsewhere, with the number of IP disputes rising by almost seven per cent in the space of the last year.

The firm has seen strong continued growth in its operations in the capital over the same period and now boasts 22 partners.

Bexley Beaumont's co-founder and Chief Executive, Karen Bexley, said that Mr Andreottola provided yet more evidence of the firm's ability to attract talent from some of the country's biggest legal practices.

"Paolo has amassed a wealth of experience with some of the UK's best-known law firms and so illustrates our ability to offer individuals of his calibre opportunities to develop their careers than are on offer elsewhere.

"The volume of IP matters coming to the fore shows just why the skills which he and our other IP lawyers possess are currently in such great demand.

"Brands are naturally eager to protect themselves in what can be an incredibly challenging environment both at home and abroad. They need the support of lawyers able to defend both their IP rights and their reputations.

"Paolo's standing in the UK and overseas means that he is, therefore, another valuable addition to our ranks."

Over the last 15 years, Mr Andreottola, who is Milan-born and qualified to practice in both Italy and the UK, has acted on behalf of some of the world's best-known brands, particularly in the technology sector.

During spells at previous firms, including CMS, Locke Lord and Edwards Wildman Palmer, he has advised on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including trade marks, copyright, designs and online infringement.

His experience has seen him repeatedly ranked among the leading specialists by World Trademark Review.

That listing has described him as “an excellent attorney" and “a creative problem-solver, consistently developing unique and effective solutions to solve issues swiftly for market-leading brands.”

Mr Andreottola's appointment means that Bexley Beaumont's London-based IP team now has five partners, handling both transactional and litigation work.

It also underlines the firm's ability to draw senior lawyers from much bigger practices.

Earlier this year, it was once more named as the UK's fastest growing large fee share firm in a classification compiled by Codex Edge, an independent company specialising in market research about the legal profession.

It found that Bexley Beaumont had seen its partner ranks grow by 30 per cent during the course of 2024.

The firm's placing in the latest Codex Edge report came just a month after its impressive record was also singled out for further praise by the professional consultancy PwC due, it said, to Bexley Beaumont having "a clear plan for its direction of travel".
