Bexley Beaumont Employment Team Makes Senior North East Appointment

Stephen Elliott has joined Bexley Beaumont after a near 30-year career, including a spell in charge of the Employment law division of one of the region's largest independent commercial practices.

His arrival coincides with Bexley Beaumont being nominated for one of the UK's most prestigious legal awards for a third successive year.

The firm is one of 10 in the running for the New Law Business of the Year category at The Lawyer Awards, described by organisers as celebrating "the very best of the legal industry".

Bexley Beaumont's co-founder and Chief Executive, Karen Bexley, said that Mr Elliott was another valuable addition who rounded out the firm's existing Employment law expertise.

"Stephen brings with him a wealth of experience as an advisor to directors of leading businesses in the North East and much further afield.

"He is rightly recognised by clients and legal industry peers for his skill in dealing with a breadth of complex matters impacting the workplace, including everything from contractual issues to the consequences of company takeovers and the importance of remaining on top of all aspects of data protection.

"As a result, he is counted on by senior personnel for his expertise in helping shape their HR policies, training staff and dealing with those issues which require resolution at employment tribunals.

"Having another individual of such calibre adds to our strength in depth and means that we can boast of truly being able to support clients across the entire spectrum of Employment law needs.

"Since we launched five years ago, we have seen the very clear benefits of having a different operating model, one which enables lawyers greater control over how they work than they might enjoy at other firms and sees them supported by an excellent central team.

"It is a recipe which has seen lots of lawyers across the country who have already been successful want to join us because they appreciate how our approach can help them take their careers even further."

Mr Elliott has gained considerable following since qualifying as a solicitor while working with a Teesside firm in 1998 and, prior to joining Bexley Beaumont, spent nearly a decade at the Stockton-on-Tees headquartered Endeavour Partnership, heading up its Employment law division.

He acts on behalf of businesses in the professional services, education, hospitality, healthcare and motorsport sectors throughout the UK.

In recent years, Mr Elliott has become renowned for guiding firms through complex and evolving data protection legislation, covering things such as privacy documents, CCTV and direct marketing.

He is ranked in both of the UK's premier legal classifications, Chambers and Partners and Legal 500, praised for offering "unfailingly fine advice".

Mr Elliott has arrived at Bexley Beaumont with its Employment law team having achieved a similar double-ranking.

Legal 500 concluded that Bexley Beaumont stood out for "its unwavering commitment to understanding the intricate nuances of employment law".

It added that it distinguished itself from rival practices because of "its deep expertise, collaborative approach, technological innovation and commitment to diversity and inclusion".
