Hugh is a senior experienced commercial solicitor with twenty years legal experience gained both in-house and in private practice. Having qualified with a top ten international law firm, Hugh has extensive experience in IT and commercial contracts, data protection and corporate governance across a range of sectors including retail, travel, energy, entertainment, financial services and insurance.

Hugh’s excellent legal skills are enhanced by his experience of income generation, strategic investment, team management and partnership development in a range of senior leadership roles since 2011, including the following current roles:

• Executive Director, CO2Sense CIC, a clean energy renewable energy fund established by the UK Government in 2011
• Non-executive Director, Huddersfield Unlimited, a not for profit organisation established by business leaders, the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and the University of Huddersfield to promote inward investment into the Huddersfield economy
• Founder/Chair, Kirklees Diversity and Innovation Network, a public and private sector partnership established in 2018 to promote diversity, culture change and innovation within organisations in the Huddersfield area
